- More Affordable Could Mean More Sales
MV Agusta has been You must be registered for see links off and on lately for its new Superveloce 800 and Brutale models. The company’s motorcycles are beautiful machines, but they’re expensive. That’s a big barrier for ownership for many would-be riders. Now, the company wants to expand and that means selling less-expensive bikes.
“MV Agusta started with the Serie Oro to give priority to our top customers, but now we have started work on the production of a more accessible bike,” CEO Timur Sardarov told You must be registered for see links. He went on to say the bikes will “breathe the same DNA and design” but that they would have fewer features. You must be registered for see links notes this likely means replacing some of the truly expensive materials like magnesium with other, less-expensive metals.
This will likely also mean that the bikes won’t be quite as high-performing motorcycles as the top-of-the-line models. If MV Agusta could produce attractive motorcycles for a fraction of the price that still provide decent performance numbers, then we could see them being a hit. The Superveloce is an attractive bike, and MV Agusta seems to want to capitalize on that design.
“The Superveloce is our first step towards that. It’s opened a whole segment of bikes that are inspired by MV’s heritage. We will not stop with the Superveloce only. There are some surprises coming,” said Sardarov.
I have a feeling these more affordable and accessible bikes will still be pretty pricey machines. They won’t be as expensive as the Series Oro models that have been in the news lately, but they will demand a premium price. Less expensive? Yes. Super affordable? No, which makes sense for this company.
